After a 3 mile run this morning I couldn’t wait to get home and dig into God’s word, I’m always excited to hear what the Lord has in store for me. Well this morning the scriptures hit me in a way that not only left me in awe but kind of made me tear up a bit. In 1 Corinthians 12 I read the following:
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
I have worked hard for many years now to get our boxing club to where it is and I assure you that none of it has been easy. There have been plenty of times when I simply wanted to walk away and call it quits, however there was always something that would keep me hanging on. In those moments, I couldn’t explain what it was that kept me pushing forward but I sure am glad I did. Hindsight is 20/20 so as I look back, all I can do is give credit where credit is due. I’ll never understand why the Lord does what he does or why he chose me for this incredible journey but I am forever grateful for every hardship, trial, dead-end, closed-door, and heart-break that I have ever encountered throughout this process. One of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with is being rejected by those closest to me for simply pursuing what I believe to be my calling, and that’s where these scriptures hit home. I realized that not everyone is going to understand or see my vision because it is a vision that was given to me and not everyone else. My journey however is no less important than the next mans as we all play a small part in God’s great plan. Whether it be boxing, baking, painting, or simply playing an instrument, if you sense this is your calling then I say CHASE IT!!!!
